King's Bounty - Walkthrough

Walkthrough - General Note

I played this walkthrough with the Mage, if you chose another character the quests can differ a bit, also the creatures that follow you can differ sometimes. However, this walkthrough for King's Bounty may not contain every quest, maybe I have missed some, but you can use this walkthrough as a guide whenever you need information about how to fulfill a quest. And there are five important things you have to know:

First, talk to everybody and ask every question you can choose in the dialogs, talk to the same characters again after a while, sometimes they have new orders for you and new quests to fulfill. Second, the most things you'll find in the game are usable things, you can rightclick on them, look at them to find some interesting notes and sometimes you can use them not only as a weapon or an armor. The third important thing in this game is: when you find an artefact, you sometimes have to go into it and fight the spirits that are living in there. You can only use that artefact if you fought them and won the battle (if you loose the battle, you can fight against the spirits again at a later time).

The fourth and most important thing is the ragebox with the four ragespirits, once you have this box, you have to talk to all four and find out their desires, everyone of them gives you an order to fulfill, they will only fight for you in the battles when you finished their orders. And the last thing: In this game you can hire troops, but they will be rare at the end of the game, in some places you can find a special amount of troops, and once you have hired them all, there won't be any more. So make sure to not loose to many of your troops during the battles. And now let's play... oh yes, I have all quests for every land written in the dependend paragraph where you get them, but this doesn't mean that those quests can be fulfilled there. Also some quests can only be fulfilled if you do other things meanwhile, for some quests you have to get a special amount of experience points, level-ups or similiar things.

Tutorial

The tutorial is the hardest part of the game. You have to fight against a dragon, rescue a princess, fight a necromancer and find some boots.

Quest - Final Trials:
Ok ok, just talk to your mentor Iron Richard, before you go through the first portal grab the sword from the chest behind him. Now you have a formidable training sword to fight a dragon with, go through the first portal. Collect all treasures you'll find on the ground, then attack the dragon and rescue the dummy... ahh, sorry, I meant ...rescue the princess.

To make sure, you'll miss nothing, go to your hero's inventory and rightclick on the princess. Now look at it, after that use it and chose one of the possible things you can do now. Go back through the portal and talk to Iron Richard again, he will tell you about the second trial. Go through the second portal, fight the necromancer and take his book, rightclick on the book in your inventory, look at it and use it, you'll find a scroll, go back and talk to Iron Richard again. He wants you to search for a piece of his armor, go through the third portal now and search for treasures.

When you walk through dungeons, you will sometimes see a light shining near you on the ground, here you can dig and find chests with stuff in it. Sometimes it's useful, sometimes not, but you can all that stuff sell later in the King's castle or at other points in the game. Now go and find Richard's boots, fight all monsters and collect everything down here. Don't forget to have a look at the boots in your inventory! Well, what you do now is your own decision, I decided to not take it. Then go back to Iron Richard and talk to him again, after a smalltalk he gives you the Reference letters for the King. Now the next portal is open, it leads you directly into the King's castle.

Quests in Greenwort

Quest - Reference Letters:
After finishing the tutorial you arrive directly in the King's castle, this is Kronberg, the capital of Darion, here you have to give the Reference Letters to the King and the quest is finished. The King now gives you the title "Royal Treasure Searcher" and a new quest, your first order to fulfill for the King.

Quest - Plugen Search:
Talk to the King and to his daughter Amelie. As new Royal Treasure Searcher it's your duty to hunt the robbers that have stolen the Plugen from the King. Hire some troops here and go into the direction of Arlania. You'll find the robbers somewhere on this street, fight them, collect all the Plugen and bring them back to the King.

Quest - Thorn Invasion:
In the small village southeast of the King's castle you'll find the Elder Evtid, talk to him. He gives you the order to get rid of all those thorns, that have invaded the village. After talking to the red Royal Thorn at the lake in the southwest of Greenwort, talk to Evtid again and tell him about the talking thorn. Fulfill the quest for the milkwoman Wilma now. After this you can get a cow from her, which you should bring to the thorn now, the thorn is happy and you can bring Evtid the good news. You can buy troops from the Royal Thorn yet.

Quest - Clear the vegetable garden:
The milkwoman Wilma tells you about those ugly thorns that have spread all over her garden. You only need to kill them and from now on Wilma will offer you thorns for your army. She can also help you with the cow for the red Royal Thorn at the lake now.

Village - Maria:
This is not a quest, Maria is a trader. Maria is living in the small hut in the village. She makes window-screens from the wings of Dragonflies. For every three wings you'll bring her, she'll give you a magic crystal.

Knight's Temple - Master Richard:
This is not a quest, but a tournament. From time to time you should check in the Knight's Temple and talk to Master Richard about the tournament. He will give you the opportunity to fight against an enemy at various levels. Once you reached this level, you can come here and have a fight, don't forget to hire good troops before.
Level 3 - fight Goblin Adun
Level 6 - fight Robin from Greenwood
Level 10 - fight Gorgon Medusa
Level 15 - fight Pato the Giant
Level 30 - fight the dragon Dreddho

Magic School - Elerio Shivarius:
Also not a quest, more like a tournament or trial in magic arts. In the Magic School talk to Elerio Shivarius, he can not only sell troops to you, he also can offer you a "Will Trial". Ask him about the school and if you can learn something here. He will then offer you a trial which is normally only for the magic adepts. You can pass this trial only when your Leadership has reached 1000 points or more.

Quest - Troubles at the mill:
The Elder Evtid will give you another quest once you have cleaned the village from all the thorns. Ask him about the miller, he tells you to find out what happened to the miller Bob Baker. Go to the mill, break off the door and talk to the miller. After this go to the Magic School and ask the magician here what can be done now. Go back to the miller, talk to him about the cursed artefact. You have to find the robber's leader Rotten Hake in the northern forest now and get the ring from him. If you have not enough experience points and enough strong troops to reach the robber on the landway, you have to fulfill Kitano's quests first to get a boat and reach the robber's house from the waterside. (Note: You can get a boat for free in Arlania, look at "Skipper Gek's Cargo"-Quest.) Once you're here talk to Rotten Hake about the miller's ring, tell him about the curse and ask him for Rina, his wife. Talk to her and tell her something that she hands over the ring to you. Tell her that you once lost such a nice ring, one day she can wear it and one day you will wear it...then she'll give it to you. Go back to the Magic School and talk to Elerio Shivarius again. He tells you, that you have to fight the ghosts of the artefact by going into it. Make sure, you have enough strong troops and prepare for battle. Rightclick the artefact in your inventory and fight. Once you won and cleaned the artefact from it's inhabitants, the magician will give you a spell, go back to the miller and speak the magic words. After curing the miller talk to Evtid and get your reward.

Quest - Chieftain Hake's girlfriend:
When following the miller's quest to the robber Hake, he will give you this quest. After talking to Hake and Rina about the cursed ring, Hake will ask you for a curing spell. Once you have completed the miller's quest and cured him, you are able to go back to Rotten Hake and write down the spell for him. He will give you a reward. If you want you can take Rina as your wife with you now.

Quest - Escaped Bear:
Near the castle you'll find the menagerie and it's owner Stephan Hall, he will give you a quest to search for his lost white bear. He also gives you a herb with which you can make the bear a bit friendlier. You can find the bear in front of the cave, northeast of the castle, the right way before the strand leads to it. Simply go near the bear and he will follow you, make sure to not run too fast, this bear is a bit slow... Bring it back to Stephan Hall and get your reward and also a new quest. Also you can hire Venomous Spiders and Bears here from now on.

Quest - Speaking Stone:
When you travel to the beach in the north, you will stumble about a talking stone on the left side where the sign is standing. Talk to the stone, then go back to the Magic School, ask for a spell and return to the stone. Speak the magic words and look what happens. Touch the altar, puh... well done adventurer.

Quest - Fishing quotas:
On the beach in front of his hut you'll meet the Fisherman Kitano, talk to him and ask for errands. He will talk about the "Devilfish" and send you to the King with his request. Talk to the King, talk again to Kitano and tell him, the King allows fishing for the next three years. Talk again to Kitano and get the next quest from him.

Quest - Fishing Tackles:
Talk again to Kitano and he will give you a second quest, you have to get back his tackles from Beardless Joe. Fight this guy at the lighthouse just above the fisherman's hut, get the tackles and bring them to Kitano. Now you'll have the option to buy a boat from Kitano for 1000 goldpieces. If you want it for 500 gold you'll have to reach level 5 first. (You can get a boat for free, when you reach Arlania and fulfill the quest for Skipper Gek.)

Quest - Bitten Hunter:
Follow the way through the village into the forest. You'll come to the house of Marksman Trey, talk to him. He tells you of his problem and you have to follow the way until you reach a cave. Go down there and fight the werwolf leader Martin Vodash, take is blood, collect all things in this cave and go back to the hunter. Give him the blood and get your reward. Now you can buy troops from him.

Quest - King's brother:
After returning the lost Plugen to the King he will give you the next royal order. The brother of the King, Carl Leonar, needs the royal seal. Bring the copy of the seal to Arlania, you'll find Carl at the observatory. (Over the bridge and then right.) Give him the seal and don't forget to ask him, why he needs it. After talking to Carl and get a quest from him, go back to Greenwort and report the news to the King.

Quest - Secret Weapon:
After your return from Carl you will get a new quest from the King. You have to get the secret weapon and return it to the King. Ahh, well... this is a quest you should fulfill as soon as possible, you will get the Ragebox, you'll need this thing in the coming battles. Talk to the king about this weapon, he sends you to Verlon Forest. Go to Verlon Forest and take the right way, then left to the Magic Academy. Talk to Master Trigius and tell him, that the King ordered you to get the secret weapon. After an interesting smalltalk about magic and rage you'll get the box. Bring it back to the King and tell him, that you can't hand it over to him. You are now the master of the Ragebox!

Rage Spirits - Swamp Spirit Sleem:
You should activate the Rage Spirits as soon as possible. Go to your inventory and click on every Spirit to talk to them. First you can get Sleem to fight for you, he only has a bit hunger. After fulfilling the quest from Stephan Hall (Escaped Bear), he can sell you Venomous Spiders, you can get also some Venomous Snakes from the witch Chvakha. Those spiders are good food for Sleem, bring one of your troops in the garison at the King's castle to have enough space for spiders. Go to the menagerie and buy about 30 Venomous Spiders from Stephan Hall. Click Sleem and give him the spiders to eat. Now he will serve you in the upcoming battles, if you have enough rage to call him.

Quest - Lost Scrolls:
In the Magic School talk to Elerio Shivarius, he gives you the quest to search for some lost scrolls. You have to go to Marshan Swamp and talk to the witch Old Chvakha about these scrolls (the ferryman will bring you to the hut, but you have to pay 400 Gold to go there, you can also walk along the way and fight the snakes). Chvakha now tells you, that she don't has the scrolls any longer, they are now hidden in a crypt at the graveyard, guarded by undead creatures. She'll give you a spell to find the correct crypt and find the scrolls therein. Well, go into this crypt and find the scrolls, the correct crypt is labeled "Enchanted Crypt". Take the scrolls off the sarcophagus and go back to Greenwort, give them to Elerio Shivarius and get your reward. Elerio also gives you another quest then.

Quest - Rare Animals:
After finishing the Quest "Lost Scrolls" for Elerio Shivarius he will give you a new quest. You only have to find some rare animals for him. You have to find 30 Lake Dragonflies, 10 Royal Snakes and 1 Cyclop. If you picked up the Dragonfly eggs in Arlania (near the bridge in the river) you should have the needed Dragonflies yet, else you must hire them somewhere. You can also hire the Royal Snakes, garrison three of your troops in the King's castle to make a bit room for new troops. Use the Dragonfly eggs in your inventory to create this troop, or hire them, also hire the Royal Snakes somewhere, somewhere in the Dwarven Lands you can hire the cyclops. When you have all troops go back to Elerio and give them to him (if you find only one troop you can bring them to Elerio too, it doesn't matter when you'll bring him the next ones later). Once you have delivered all troops you can collect your reward.

Quest - Donations to the Temple:
In the Knight's Temple you have to talk to Aron Demion to get this quest. He wants you to bring a bag of gold into the Temple of Deceased Souls in the Marshan Swamp. When you arrive in Marshan Swamp, take the way up the hill, over the bridge at the furios Paladin's house and follow the way to it's end. Talk to Priest Owein about the donations, he'll give you the reward and a new quest. Go back to Greenwort and tell Aron Demion that the donations are delivered. You can also buy troops from Priest Owein.

Quest - Crashed Dirigible:
Talk to the dwarf in front of the dirigible at Kronberg castle. This is Technician Tregum, ask him if you can help him with spare parts. (I recommend to do this before flying with him to Lyaro Island.) He will tell you about the Black Box, that every dirigible has on board. You simply have to go to Arlania and find the crashed dirigible. Take the black box and bring it back to Tregum.

Quest - Evil Beholders Breeding:
After finishing his first quest, Stephan Hall (Menagerie) will give you the next quest. Talk to him about the new creatures, he'll tell you about Evil Beholders and that he wants to know how to breed them. Go to Verlon Forest and talk to Archon (first way left). He gives you some papers, read them in your inventory, go back to Greenwort and give those papers to Stephan Hall.

Quest - Mystery of Lyaro Island:
After finishing the quest "Secret Weapon" the King will give you new orders. A new island has appeared and you shall go there with the dirigible of the dwarf Tregum. (I recommend to finish the quest "Crashed Dirigible" first.) On Lyaro Island you'll find your first bossmonster, so make sure you have enough strong troops for this quest before talking to the dwarf. Talk to Tregum about your order to fly to Lyaro Island. Board the dirigible and don't panic. Has Tregum his beer yet? Ok, then nothing can happen. Once you're there you can only walk along the path, there is nothing else. At the end of this path you'll find an Orc Shaman named Karrakh, talk to him. He tells you that he wants to rule the whole world and he summons a small turtle. Now you have to fight the turtle (without the Rage Spirits) and when you've won, talk to her. She'll ask you for protection and you have to give her a bit of your blood and your name to create a magical bond. From this day on she can call you whenever she needs you, and vice versa. Fly back to Greenwort, talk to the King again and tell him the story, then get your reward and your next order.

Quest - Underground Maps:
Kink Mark Leonar will give you this quest as soon as you've sorted out the things on Lyaro Island. After your report about the turtle, the King tells you about the problems in the Creiston Mines and some maps, you have to travel to the Islands of Freedom to get these Underground Maps from a pirat named Lucky James. When you arrive at Western Islands talk to Merchant Valdes, he does not know very much but he tells you to talk to Mirabella or even better to the pirate Redbeard. Governor Scott Thompson in Tripol tells you the same. When you arrive on the Eastern Islands you can talk to Mirabella. She tells you some things about Lucky James and gives you a quest too. Talk to Red Beard, you can find him on the Eastern Islands (northern top of the southeast island), he will tell you about Lucky James, give you a black mark together with a quest and tell you the password for the mines. Go up to the mine entrance and tell the guard the password. Here you'll find dwarven slaves and the Emerald Castle guarded by Lucky James. Talk to Lucky James about the maps, he'll sell them for 100.000 goldpieces. If you give him the "Black Mark" you got from Red Beard, you also have the choice to get the maps for killing Red Beard instead. The third choice is to kill Lucky James. Whatever you choose here, once you'll have the maps go back to the king and report about the slavery trouble in the mines. You'll get a new order from the King then.

Quest - Slave Traders:
After the Quest "Underground Maps" the King gives you the order to talk with Rotten Hake in the Greenwort forest. Rotten Hake tells you about the conspiracy of Baron Ahey now. That's all, go back to the King and report, he'll give you the next quest.

Quest - The Storming of Creiston:
After completing the "Slave Traders" quest, you get a sidequest from the King. You have to end the slavery and storm the Creiston Castle (in Creiston Mines) and kill Baron Ahey. After this you can buy troops here from Viceregent Rupert. Report the death of Baron Ahey to the King and get your reward. Viceregent Rupert will also tell you how to get to Kordar.

Quest - Peace Treaty with the Dwarves:
You'll get this quest from King Mark after completing the "Slave Traders" quest. Go through the Creiston Mines, Upper and Lower Hadar, Taron Mines and make your way to Ardan's Peaks to reach the dwarven capital Taron Castle. Here talk to Torn Digor, the Dwarven King, tell him about the conspiracy and the peace treaty of King Mark. He will accept the treaty if he gets your help. So you have to free his son Tibold first, you can find him at the Castle Bogaccio in the Taron Mines. This castle is heavily guarded and you need strong troops to free Tibold. When you've won the battle, Tibold gives you the Clock of Time. Now go back to King Torn Digor and tell him about his son. Then go back to Darion (Greenwort) and tell King Mark Leonar that you've managed to keep peace with the dwarves. King Mark gives you the next quest then.

Quest - Queen Violetta:
After finishing the quest "Peace treaty with the dwarves" King Mark gives you this quest. His daughter Amelie was kidnapped and you have to talk to Queen Violetta in Ellinia, the Elven Lands. You can go there with the "Sea Swallow" by fisherman Kitano. The queen lives in Daloer, the capital of the Valley of Thousand Rivers. Go to Daloer, talk to Queen Violetta and to Kay-Lear. At this point you have finished the King's order, but you have to go on with your mainquest in the quest "Violetta's Soul". You can find it on the Ellinia page.

Fandor's Obelisk:
You can find two Obelisks of Fandor here in Greenwort. The first obelisk is in front of the School of Magic and the second obelisk is on a small island at the northern coast, where the fisher Kitano lives.
